Jared Leto Probably Won’t Be In James Gunn’s ‘Suicide Squad 2’

Following the news that Suicide Squad 2 will be written and directed by James Gunn, it’s fair to say that we won’t be seeing Jared Leto‘s Joker in the upcoming film, due to the history between the two. Earlier this year, Gunn actually implied that Leto was a pedophile in a tweet:

He had also said something back in 2012:

Gunn was famously fired by Disney after a series of disturbing tweets surfaced, as well as a set of photos from a To Catch A Predator themed party.

It’s fair to wonder what Leto’s future with DC will be at this point. He’s already signed on to play Morbius in the upcoming Sony Marvel Universe, and while we heard that his take on the Joker will reportedly be getting a solo film, Joaquin Phoenix’s solo Joker movie has already been filming for about a month now. WB constantly announces projects that don’t actually happen, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

A Harley Quinn/Joker movie had also been announced, but Birds of Prey is coming first. We think.

James Gunn Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

It’s been reported that Marvel plans on using Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy 3 script, with no director currently picked. Signing Gunn is a solid creative move for WB, and one that could really work out for them in their plans to make their movie universe on par with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here’s hoping they get everything figured out and deliver films that everyone enjoys.
