Before there was the MCU and the DCEU, the line-up of mutant, social commentary and hit-or-miss films on Charles Xavier and the X-Men was where the “cinematic universe” was at for the comic book fans. Even with some convoluted stories that come, there is a memorable presence and a wide respect for a property independent from Marvel’s recent tie-ins and was the first to establish itself as an entity outside the comics, especially with one Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Logan was an exceptional film marking the end of not only a running character of 17 years, but a story that…

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe is already in deep reaches of its web of stories, it still pales in comparison to the entire history of the Marvel comic books. With nearly 60 years of the comics, much of its story and characters, as well as the longest presence in super hero films yet, stems from the father of many beloved characters, Stan Lee himself. And with no surprise, Lee knows a lot more what goes behind the scenes with his involvement in them, especially an upcoming and very highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War. Gamezone had a Q&A with Stan the…

The opening to a movie is always one that defines the tone and atmosphere of the experience. Joker’s “Heat”-inspired heist that set the crime drama of The Dark Knight, Dredd’s monologue and chase to show the cesspool of Mega City One, the fear that strikes as Unicron devoured an entire planet to show the original Transformers film wasn’t for kids anymore, any example whether comic inspired or not has this in mind. An introduction to the world we are served is something special that has us remember what it stands for. While a powerful film, Logan is certainly no exception…

Before Hugh Jackman’s initial casting as the iconic Wolverine for 17 years, the studios approached Russell Crowe who, up until now, declined without a stated reason. Apparently the reason for Crowe’s decline was Gladiator, but not just in the “scheduling conflict” sort of sense you may think. Crowe opened with Fitzy & Wippa, an Austrailian radio show, on the time X-Men’s director Bryan Singer confronted him about the role: Bryan [Singer] was a friend at the time, and he was really putting the pressure on. If you remember, Maximus has a wolf at the center of his cuirass, and he…

After a bit of time and some appeal from audiences regarding Oliver Queen, it seems fan-favorite choice Charlie Hunnam is willing to change his tune on playing a comic book character. During an interview talking to Omeleteve about King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and his television work, the Sons of Anarchy actor was opened up further on being the fan choice for Green Arrow and asked a bit more insight on the reasoning: Omeleteve: We were saying…talking to our readers about this one. “He has to play this one! He has to play this one!” Hunnam: You know, I’m…

Though still not cast, word of a Shazam film coming to the DCEU soon have gotten fans talking of potential candidates of who would play one very particular Captain Marvel. But for example, I’m going to throw out a name out there, and I want to see how the fans will react to…

Some first dates are memorable and blossom to greater things to each other’s lives. Others involve a drastic story of insanity that makes you wonder where someone has this amount of time and energy to act in such a way. This one just happens to involve a beloved comic book movie. Vezmar describes the “first date from hell” when the woman did not put her phone…

Just when you thought the tone of Suicide Squad’s reshoots was news of its own, it appears DCEU’s next team-up film in their line-up takes the cake. Splash Report had reported that according to an anonymous tip, the Justice League film has been handled a bit too extensively, with an overhaul of re-shoots: Speaking on a condition of anonymity, [our source] said that in the 17 months between the start of principal photography and the final cut arriving in theaters in November that the film will have essentially been “remade…twice. The re-shoots and additional changes to the script were apparently requested…

James Mangold made a very specific film to conclude the legacy of Hugh Jackman, the Wolverine, and as a bonus, become of the boldest films ever conceived to a comic book cinematic experience. Though an R-rating was done by Deadpool in the X-Men line-up, the atmosphere and darkness of Logan was what made the film its own independent entry, natural of the way it needed to tell the story. The few but rich characters really worked the way they intended with the story, especially a surprising return of Caliban from X-Men: Apocalypse, this time played by Stephen Merchant. Obvious SPOILERS…

Before joining to create the original blockbuster team-up, ex-Marvel director and writer Joss Whedon was attached to a Wonder Woman film, and knowing his taste in powerful female characters, this one really seemed up his alley. While it never did see the light of day, we do now have a full script of his vision available for us all. Dated back over a decade ago to August 7th, 2006, the script has some very interesting things to look into the Wonder Woman mythos. The main villain, instead of Ares, was Strife, the god of chaos instead. Unpleasant connection between Wonder…
