Growing up a film and television fan in the wonderful state of Massachusetts, he grew a strong attachment to personal dramas. Teaming up his fandom for the world of entertainment along with his love of writing was just an all too natural fit for Matt. He can be often found at the local cineplex, eating at the local restaurants or playing basketball at any basketball court across Mass.

While critics and fans were slightly mixed on the first entry in the franchise, fans are still excited to see a continuation of the Harry Potter universe with Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them 2. Well it looks like that the film will have even more to get excited about. After weighing through different options to play the character, it appears that Jude Law will being starring in Fantastic Beasts 2 as Young Albus Dumbledore. Director David Yates commented on this exciting news: Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I have long admired, and I’m looking forward to finally having…

Joe Swanberg has come a long way since his mumblecore roots. Ever since his debut film Kissing on the Mouth, Swanberg has made a dozen of low budget indies, with most of them being a mixed bag. Recently however, Swanberg has found his stride, particularly in his team up with Netflix. Drinking Buddies and Digging for Fire were great comedy/relationship dramas, while Easy is one of my favorite Netflix shows. In his continuation with his Netflix deal, Swanberg is back in film with his latest Win It All. The film follows Eddie Garrett, a down on his luck gambler who is given the job to watch a package for a…

A cliché that has been done to death over the past few years is putting old people in more action-oriented roles. From the ok Red to the mostly dreadful Expendables series (the second one being the lone exception), this set-up for the most part has led to mostly forgettable films. Trying to buck that trend is the new heist comedy Going in Style.   Starring the Oscar winning trio of Michael Caine, Alan Arkin, and Morgan Freeman, the film follows three friends who find themselves in a desperate spot after losing their pension funds. Their solution, rob a bank, and…

Smaller science fiction films appear to be dying. Aside from a few examples like Ex Machina, most of the science fiction market is saturated by blockbusters that mostly leave their brains at the door. This is a shame, as science fiction is known by most for its thoughtful examinations of socially relevant issues. One of the few directors trying to continue the trend is Charlie McDowell, who with the great The One I Love and his latest film The Discovery asks big questions that don’t have easy answers. The Discovery is set in a world where scientist Thomas Harbor has…

After making less than 20 million dollars last week in its opening weekend, Ghost in the Shell is already being labeled as a box office bomb but box office pundits. Even if the film performs well internationally, its projected to still lose Paramount 60 million dollars in the long run. When a film bombs like this at the box office, executives look for someone or somewhere to point the finger. According to Paramount Domestic Distribution Chief Kyle Davies, that blame is pointed on its whitewashing controversy. “We had hopes for better results domestically. I think the conversation regarding casting impacted the reviews.”…

After trying his hand at hosting The Celebrity Apprentice (and for the most part failing), many have wondered what will Arnold Schwarzenegger do next with his career? Well it appears he is going back to the films that made him such a household name in the first place. In an interview with Fandango, Arnold discussed the future of the Terminator franchise, including his presence in these films: “I don’t want to call it, like, fake news, like the president calls it, but I think people just write things – I have no idea why. Just because Paramount doesn’t want to pick up the Terminator franchise, you have…

At this point, Avatar 2 feels like an ancient myth of sorts, as James Cameron’s constant talk of its existence has led to nothing. With talks of Cameron working on Avatar 2, 3, 4, and 5, its an idea that is truly hard to believe considering the eight years since the original. Well, it looks like we are a little bit closer to Avatar 2 actually happening. Confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, Sigourney Weaver recently let fans know when filming will finally begin. “We’re starting! We’re starting training, and we’re starting — hmm, I probably can’t say anything. We will be actually shooting it by the fall.”…

Ever since being announced, the latest adaptation of Ghost in the Shell has been under hot water from many. Most of that is due to the casting of Scarlett Johansson in a role that was previously played by an Asian actor, which many labeled as another example of whitewashing. After mediocre trailers and even more mediocre reviews (hovering around 45% on Rotten Tomatoes), it was safe to say expectations for the film were modest. Based on a classic anime, the film follows Major, a cyborg with a human brain who is believed to be the first of her kind. After an unusual…
