Election day is here! Not only does that mean the constant refreshing of computer screens, but also people trying to spread the awareness for the election. The latest effort to get people to the pools is yet another celebrity video. It features Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, James Franco, Neil Patrick Harris, Julianne Moore, and Keegan Michael-Key. If you remember, about 2 months ago, these same celebrities came together for a video encouraging everyone NOT to vote for Donald Trump. Now, it seems, that the latest video is just asking everyone to get out and simply vote. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7STNrFjJhF0 It’s good…

Keeping in the Hollywood trend, yet another film has released a teaser to highlight the release of an upcoming trailer. That film is Ghost in the Shell, which has been one of the more-talked about releases for its controversial casting. Staring Scarlett Johansson, the film is based on an anime of the same name. Many were unhappy with Johansson’s casting because she is not an Asian actress, with many concluding it as another example of whitewashing. However, its still cool to have an anime like this be a major theatrical release, as the teaser highlights some impressive action. So far, the plot…
After the success of 2014’s The Lego Movie, I struggled with the concept of a Lego cinematic universe. Sure, that movie was fantastic and a lot of fun, but could Warner Brothers replicate that success again? Well, it turns out they might just have. The latest trailer for The Lego Batman Movie has it the internet, and its laugh out loud hilarious trailer. Check it out below, as well as the official plot synopsis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGQUKzSDhrg In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own…
It’s been twenty years since Danny Boyle’s transcending drug-filled flick Trainspotting hit theaters. To this day, audiences revere the movie for its mix of dark comedy and an all-to-real portrait of drug use. As unexpected as it may be, there is a sequel on the way. At first, I questioned the concept of a sequel to Trainspotting. Sure, the original is a great film, but what exactly would inspire Boyle and the cast to continue the series. Based on this trailer however, I am quite excited for the prospect of this film. Danny Boyle has been my favorite director for some time, and his skill is…
Thinking back, most people probably do not remember much about Escape Plan. The 2013 action flick starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger failed to garner much attention from audiences in the states (earned only 25 million). However, due to the film earning an impressive 137 million worldwide, it looks like we have a sequel on its way. Currently in development from Oasis Films, it appears that Stallone is set to return as Ray Breslin, but will be taking a backseat in a supporting role. Scribe Miles Chapman, who wrote the original film, is returning for the sequel. For those who haven’t seen Escape…
Much talk has been made about the future of the DC Universe, especially after a shaky 2016 slate. Both Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad were universally panned by critics and disappointed most audiences. With both films being essential building blocks, Warner Brothers is becoming extra-protective with their universe. Perhaps a sign of that studio involvement is the latest news on the standalone Flash movie. Dope director Rick Famuyiwa has left the project, with it being reported that “creative differences” led to his departure. Famuyiwa gave a statement to The Hollywood Reporter following the news: “When I was approached by Warner Bros and DC about the possibility of…
With only one new release entering theaters, expectations were for that film to dominate the weekend. It seems that Madea had other plans though, repeating in the top spot. Boo! A Madea Halloween earned 16.7 million dollars this weekend. A 41% drop off from last weekend is impressive, with it being clear that both the Halloween tie-in and positive audience reviews have helped a great deal. Just when many thought Tyler Perry’s star power was beginning to fade, he releases what is on track to be his second-highest grossing film (Madea’s Witness Protection currently is with 65 million). Boo has earned 52 million dollars so…
Dan Brown, while criticized in many circles, has crafted some of the most popular novels of the millennium. With them packing intense thrills along with an ancient mystery, novels like The DaVinci Code and Angles and Demons. One would think that kind of formula would create some good films, but both Code and Demons were largely mediocre thrillers, despite the presence of star Tom Hanks. After seven years since the last entry, we have another Brown novel adapted to film with Inferno. Similar to the previous entries, the film follows Robert Langdon, who starts the film in a hospital with…
Many fans were shocked by the news of Tim Miller’s departure from Deadpool 2. His direction of Deadpool, which was actually his directorial debut, was a key component of the film’s success. He maximized his fairly miniscule budget, creating a film that captured the essence of the character with style. Since his departure, much speculation has been made to who will take the helm of the sequel. The rumor mill has swirled with several big names, with a pretention even being crafted for the great Quentin Tarrentino to direct the feature. Much of this, however, is merely speculation, with Fox…
James Woods is pretty infamous for being one of Hollywood’s most eccentric personalities, with eccentric putting it nicely. From trolling Obama on Twitter to his wild personal life, Woods always appears to be up to something. Recently, a ten million dollar defamation suit that James Woods had started over a tweet calling him a “cocaine addict” was dropped. Woods then decided to do what he always does, by taking to Twitter to express his thoughts. https://twitter.com/RealJamesWoods/status/789363967617486848 Woods felt the need to grand stand a bit on Twitter, but that is not the end of the story. Lisa Bloom, the…
