Growing up a film and television fan in the wonderful state of Massachusetts, he grew a strong attachment to personal dramas. Teaming up his fandom for the world of entertainment along with his love of writing was just an all too natural fit for Matt. He can be often found at the local cineplex, eating at the local restaurants or playing basketball at any basketball court across Mass.

As discussed previously, I am still shocked we are getting a sequel to The Boy. The film was about as forgettable as it gets for a horror film, and it while it had a healthy box office run, it didn’t set the world on fire (35 million domestic). That being said, I am trying to remain optimistic for its follow-up The Boy 2, which stars Katie Holmes in place of former The Walking Dead star Lauren Cohan. While filming has just begun, distributor STX Entertainment is giving fans a first look into the film with its first official image of the sinister Brahms. Check that out along…

Last year’s Halloween was one of the most successful horror films of all time, reviving the once proud franchise with both critical and financial acclaim. It’s clear that horror producer Jason Blum and director David Gordon Green approached the subject matter with a lot of respect for its origin, crafting something that appealed to the fans and the original source material. With that film’s massive success, talks of a sequel have already been under way. So far, not much traction has been made, but in an interview with CinePop, producer Jason Blum re-iterated that his team is trying to get a sequel…

Steven Soderbergh is one of the most accomplished directors in the industry, with a lot of that being credited to his ability to evolve. Even at the age of 56, Soderbergh continues to expand his range, now focusing on crafting low-budget films via iPhones. His latest High Flying Bird is a testament to that evolution, a film that loudly and proudly fights against the system with winning results. Set during the NBA lockout, High Flying Bird follows Ray, a sports agent who is trying to navigate his young star Erick (Melvin Gregg) through the NBA shutdown. Ray, along with his former assistant (Zazie Beetz),…

Ever since he hunted down the men who kidnapped his daughter in Taken, Liam Neeson has successfully pivoted into a legitimate action star. Whether its fighting against wolves in The Grey or finding a mysterious killer on a train in The Commuter, Neeson brings his signature calm, yet intimidating presence to great effect. While his latest and perhaps most unique effort yet Cold Pursuit, is an admirably unique detour into dark comedy, it doesn’t quite work as well as it should. Cold Pursuit’s set-up would have audiences believe this is typical Neeson fare. As a remake of In Order of Disappearance, the film follows Nels Coxman (no, seriously that’s his name),…

Liam Neeson has built a diverse resume, going from acclaimed Academy award-winning actor to action-star over the course of his career. While much beloved, Neeson’s image recently took a hit when he revealed in an interview with The Independent that he tried to kill a “black bastard” to get revenge after one of his friends had been raped. As one could guess, these comments did not go over well, with Neeson receiving major flak for his remarks being tone-deaf and racist. In an attempt to clear the air, Neeson went on Good Morning America to discuss the controversial comments. Check…

From independent horror producer to one of the most respected executives in the industry, Jason Blum has made a meteoric rise over the past decade. He has created several profitable horror franchises like The Purge and Paranormal Activity while also producing Oscar acclaimed films like Get Out. His company Blumhouse has become a staple of horror, even having the name-recognition to help make a film profitable (last year featured Blumhouse’s True Or Dare).  With all that success, Jason Blum has begun considering the possibility of a crossover of sorts between different Blumhouse brands. Here is what he had to say about it in an interview with CinePop:…

The Disney-Fox deal has been a long time coming, mainly due to how complicated it is to pull of a deal of this magnitude. By acquiring Fox, Disney is now adding several properties like the X-Men, Alien, and Deadpool, continuing to grow their unprecedented power while also giving them a lot more material for their planned streaming service. One major concern coming with this deal however is the future of those properties. Considering Disney is a family-friendly brand, many have thought that Disney may plan to discontinue some of their more iconic R-rated franchises. Thankfully, that doesn’t appear to be the case, as DiscussingFilm…

Remakes are a dime a dozen in Hollywood today, with the track record being fairly mixed on whether they can add anything to their respective origins. Sony’s latest Miss Bala, a remake of an acclaimed 2011 Spanish-language film, is the ultimate cautionary tale of a remake gone wrong. Its uninspired and inauthentic execution makes it an early favorite for most 2019 worst of lists. Miss Bala follows Gloria (Gina Rodriguez), a make-up artist who visits her best friend in Mexico. When she gets kidnapped, Gloria begins to pursue any means of finding her friend, even if it means working with the Mexican cartel…

Serenity seemed to be just an ordinary January movie, but it ended up making a lot more noise than anticipated. Thanks to some bizarre performances and a shocking twist that you likely won’t see coming, the film ended up being a fascinating experience, one that I ended up admiring a lot more than most critics (currently holds a 21% rating on Rotten Tomatoes). While most reactions have been largely negative, the team behind the movie is coming to its defense. Writer and director Steven Knight, along with stars Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, have reportedly clashed with their distributor Aviron over…
