Growing up a film and television fan in the wonderful state of Massachusetts, he grew a strong attachment to personal dramas. Teaming up his fandom for the world of entertainment along with his love of writing was just an all too natural fit for Matt. He can be often found at the local cineplex, eating at the local restaurants or playing basketball at any basketball court across Mass.

Trying to capitalize on the nostalgia for Grindhouse genre films, Machete and Machete Kills, while not exactly well-received, were a lot of fun for what they were. It was great to see Danny Trejo shine in a leading role and Robert Rodriguez was the ideal filmmaker to reimagine the grind house style. After both films severely underperformed at the box office though, many assumed that the tentative third film Machete Kills in Space wouldn’t happen. According to Danny Trejo, apparently this third Machete film is still happening. In a discussion with Popcorn Chat, Trejo discussed plans for the third film and the potential wait fans will…

The X-Men series is in a true state of influx with the departure of Hugh Jackman and the impending sale of Fox to Disney. Upcoming films like Dark Phoenix and New Mutants have already been pushed back a year from their original release dates, leaving many in doubt about both film’s quality. While Fox tried to breath new life to the series with X-Men: Apocalypse, the film ultimately underwhelmed critically and financially despite having its respective charms. One of the most agreed-on aspects of the film  was the surprisingly lackluster villain, with the great Oscar Isaac underwhelming in the role of Apocalypse. It appears that the feeling…

The 80’s and 90’s were certainly a different time for movies and music, but also different for the way the two co-existed. It was rare for a big movie to be released during this time that didn’t tie in alongside some sort of hit single. Whether its “Kiss by a Rose” for Batman Forever or “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” for Armageddon, there are plenty of noteworthy (and kind of bizarre) song tie-ins for movies. Perhaps the most bizarre of all the Nightmare on My Street, a long lost music video that combined A Nightmare on Elm Street with DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince himself Will…

Wes Craven may have not had the most consistent of careers (one of his last film’s My Soul to Take is still one of the worst horror movies of the decade), he is worth celebrating for the notable impact made in the slasher genre with Scream and the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchises. Both films took wildly unique approaches to the slasher genre and its respective cliches, with Craven creating two iconic franchises in the process. While there has been talks recently of a Nightmare on Elm Street remake, the late director is in the news again for a surprisingly obscure movie, in Cursed. After Craven’s success…

While Halloween is currently killing it on the big screen, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (89% on Rotten Tomatoes) is doing the same on the small screen on Netflix. The reimagining of the iconic 90’s series has been praised by both critics and audiences for taking the series roots to some creepy and surprisingly dark places. One of the major changes in this updated version is the morphing of the cat sidekick Salem. In the original show, Salem was a wise-cracking cat, but in this updated version, the cat doesn’t speak. In an interview with Indiewire, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa explained why this change was made with the…

While the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has made a boatload of money during its course (roughly 4.5 billion worldwide), the franchise is in a real funk. Most of the sequels have been largely uninspired, failing to capture the energy of the original with overworked screenplays and bloated action. The last entry Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tells No Tale was about as uninspired as you can get, offering little in terms of character and adventure. According to Deadline, Disney is now considering a complete reboot of the Pirates franchise, as they look to Deadpool screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to potentially write this reboot. It’s unknown at…

The new Halloween movie made massive waves this past weekend with its box office debut. The film’s 77.5 million dollar debut is the second highest-debut ever in the month of October (just losing out to Venom), and the massive debut was also another success in Jason Blum’s impressive production empire. It’s safe to say that Halloween is back to its glory days. One scene that had many audiences abuzz was towards the beginning of Michael Myers’ rampage, in which after murdering a woman, he drifts to a crib before walking away. In a recent interview with Collider, director David Gordon Green explained why the…

After many failed sequels and reboots, it was a welcome return this weekend to see Michael Myers return to the big screen with a film worthy of the iconic killer’s stature. While this year’s Halloween movie was not perfect, it was an admirable throwback that brought the series back to its gory slasher roots. Solid critic and audience reactions mixed with a groundbreaking opening weekend have reset the franchise in a big way. It appears that the film’s satisfying conclusion could have been much different however. Confirmed by a tweet sent out by PDF Screenplays, the tweet released the original draft…

It’s not news to anyone that the Terminator franchise is in a state of disarray. The last revival of the series Terminator: Genysis was a commercial and critical failure, leaving Paramount having to go back to square one in any hopes for reviving the famed science fiction franchise. With it being nearly 30 years since the last good Terminator film, fans are starting to wonder whether the franchise should just die off or not. Whether fans want it or not, another reboot is coming, and it will be coming sooner than previously thought. The currently untitled Terminator reboot was original slated for a November 22nd, 2019 release, but…
