Growing up a film and television fan in the wonderful state of Massachusetts, he grew a strong attachment to personal dramas. Teaming up his fandom for the world of entertainment along with his love of writing was just an all too natural fit for Matt. He can be often found at the local cineplex, eating at the local restaurants or playing basketball at any basketball court across Mass.

Every Oscar Season, a film or two will come around and receive glowing reviews from critics and audiences but fail to resonant with me personally or for others. Despite my lack of enthusiasm for these films, they often will have a lot of their own merit or respective reasons for their praise. The same can not be said for Green Book, which is a shockingly tone-deaf and lazy depiction of racism that left me angrier than any other release this year. Based on a “true story”, Green Book follows Frank Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen), an Italian bouncer who regrettably takes a driving job for Don…

Controversy and Lars Von Trier are two words that always appear together. The filmmaker has one of the most divisive receptions of any filmmaker, with critics being split on whether he’s a genius or just an idiot. That controversy continues with his latest film The House That Jack Built, which has received edits to make for its theatrical version. While the film has yet to be officially released, a Director’s Cut one night event Wednesday showed audiences Lars’ true vision. According to The Hollywood Reporter though, these nationwide screenings were in violation of MPPA rating rules. Here is their official response: The MPAA…

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hits theaters next month, and may just end up being one of the year’s best superhero films. Glowing early reviews have gushed over the films beautifully-stylized animation and inventive twist on the Spider-Man brand. It appears that Sony is so happy with these early results that a Spider-Women spin-off, as well as a Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel are already in works. THR has the scoop on both films, reporting that the Spider-Women film will be an ensemble of several Spider-Man characters like Spider-Woman, Madame Web, Spider-Girl, and Silk. While Gwen Stacey is likely to be in the film as well, it is…

Unlike other genre of films, the horror genre will often have many low-budget franchises that despite not making a significant dent into the marketplace, have a specific audience that supports the films. Dating back to 1971, Amando de Ossorio’s cult franchise, Curse of the Blind Dead, was able to connect with audiences despite not having a substantial theatrical run. Whether you asked for it or not, it appears that a sequel is on its way. The franchise is set to continue in 2019 with the Curse of the Blind Dead, another relatively low-budget cult horror film. Check out the debut trailer along…

Lars Von Trier is one of the most divisive filmmakers in the industry. The industry itself despises the director, who has a tumultuous feud with the Cannes Film Festival (over 100 audience members walked out during this film’s screening) and several other critics. At the same token, Von Trier is a true original, with films like Melancholia and Nymphomaniac displaying his artistry and dark sense of humor. Von Trier’s latest The House That Jack Built is perhaps his most controversial effort yet. The film follows Jack (Matt Dillon), a serial killer who looks back upon his twelve years of being a serial killer, an…

It’s no secret that our country is in some fairly complicated straights politically-speaking, with the growing divide between political parties only making these discussions all the more volatile.  With this being the case, films like director Jason Riteman’s latest The Front Runner are all the more vital in our landscape, especially when they’re inspired as this particular film. The Front Runner, which is based on true story, follows Gary Hart (Hugh Jackman), a Democratic senator whose idealistic campaign catapulted him to being a favorite for the 1988 Presidential Election. When a potential scandal breaks however, Hart and his political team must work to cover…

This was the first year Netflix fans had to go without a season of Stranger Things, and as a die-hard fan, its been a long wait for the shows upcoming third season. While some were split on Season 2, I believe it did a lot to improve the series characters and story, with the Duffer Brothers excelling at creating something that far exceeded the archetypes it was based on. While details about season 3 are fairly unknown, fans still can’t help but look forward to the new season and beyond as far as how long the show will last. Star Greg Matarazzo…

It’s impressive how The Conjuring Universe has been able to become one of the biggest franchises in Hollywood. Despite the film’s having a relatively modest budget and mixed reviews, the films have connected with poor audiences, providing a few fun old school haunted house films. To say I am dreading Annabelle 3 however is an understatement, with its predecessor being one of the dullest horror movies in recent memory. It’s all about what makes money though, and with Annabelle: Creation earning over 100 million domestically, it was bound to get a sequel. A new synopsis has been given on this reported third film, with has already…

One of my most anticipated films of 2019 is the new Hellboy reboot. While its sad that Guillermo Del Toro and Ron Perlman have departed from the series, it is exciting to see Stranger Things David Harbour take over as our badass protagonist. This reboot also looks to shift the series tone from a fantasy-approach to something more hard-hitting. A new photo of the actor as the title character has surfaced, and it looks pretty cool: Stay the hell out of his way. #Hellboy returns on April 12, 2019. pic.twitter.com/MlWKVTfaGN — Hellboy (@HellboyMovie) November 27, 2018 In an interview with Empire Magazine, director Neil…

This year’s Halloween movie will go down as one of the most successful horror films of the year, reviving the previously dormant franchise with strong reactions from fans and critics alike. It also doesn’t hurt that the movie performed exceptionally at the box office, grossing over 250 million dollars worldwide on a mere 10 million dollar budget. While most audiences were satisfied with their experience, it appears that the movie originally would have been significantly different. According to a BloodyDisgusting article, Halloween was originally set to have Michael Myers kill iconic character Laurie Strode, who originally defeated Michael in the original ending.…
