Universal has finally given a name to their new upcoming franchise of gods and monsters. While most have been calling it the Monsters Cinematic Universe, it seems the company had something else in mind – The Dark Universe. Along with giving a name to the franchise, Universal has revealed the next release in the series along with some pretty big cast members. After The Mummy hits theaters and launches the universe, Universal is set to release Bride of Frankenstein on February 14, 2019. Johnny Depp will be playing the Invisible Man, once played by the great Claude Rains. Javier Bardem…

It looks like Resident Evil is following in the footsteps of franchises which used the subtitle “The Final Chapter” and still returned for another outing. Variety reports that the iconic horror-action film franchise, inspired by the video game series of the same name, is being rebooted with a plan for at least six films. The announcement was made by Constantin Film board chairman Martin Moszkowicz at Cannes Film Festival. Constantin Films owns the film rights to the franchise and produced all of the previous films. Moszkowicz’ plan includes the release of six films in this franchise – the same number…

The first two Terminator films are some of the best examples of both the science-fiction and action genres. Unfortunately it’s tough being a fan given that every entry since has been less than enjoyable if not completely awful. And after the way Genysis was received by audiences, it seemed unlikely that the franchise would return anytime soon. Even franchise star Arnold Schwarzenegger has been on the fence about returning to his most iconic role, but now it seems like he’s prepared to give it another shot. At the Cannes Festival, Schwarzenegger spoke with Screen Rant, and revealed some information about…

Mortal Kombat was one of the first big video game adaptations. And it was also considered by some to be one of the worst. And once its sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation was released in 1997, the film franchise went into hibernation until now. A reboot has been in the works for years now, and screenwriter Oren Uziel has revealed some new script details that have led to it being called an R-rated, violent version of The Avengers. He elaborated on some of these concepts during an interview with Collider regarding his upcoming Netflix film Shimmer Lake. “Well, and again I…

A new deleted scene has been released that is included alongside the upcoming Blu-ray release of Logan. Villains Donald Pearce and Xander Rice, played by Boyd Holbrook and Richard E. Grant, are each featured heavily. The scene shows Pearce relay to Rice where Logan and Laura are headed. Rice responds by using the information as leverage when interrogating a captive, which paints the scientist character in a much darker light. In the future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his…

Logan must’ve had a great marketing team, because they handled hiding one of the best reveals of the film, X-24. As a mutant character, X-24 is Logan’s final antagonist and one of the bigger threats in the film. Interestingly enough, Hugh Jackman played both characters, and for what could’ve went horribly wrong seems to have played perfectly in the end. Of course, it does look like Jackman had his doubts. The actor recently revealed this in an interview with Collider. He explained that his doubts about playing X-24 led to quite a few heated arguments. “I was very skeptical of…

Advertising is not what it used to be. When films like the original Alien were released, a lot of it depended on word of mouth, maybe a few positive reviews, and perhaps a teaser or two. This is no longer the case in our digitally viral age, and Alien: Covenant seems to have gotten one of the biggest marketing pushes of the franchise. In fact, 20th Century Fox has already spent somewhere around $22.35 million on television ads alone. If you don’t know what that buys, the company now has 31 ads that will air 1,706 times across 43 networks.…

While Baywatch is getting closer to its release date, star Zac Efron is already prepping for his next role – and it’s not exactly one you’d expect for the star. There’s plenty of horrible people that have lived throughout history, and one of these is the notoriously disturbing Ted Bundy. As one of the world’s most iconic serial killers, it’ll be a big step for Efron in his career and potentially one that could make or break it for the future. The film is set to follow the perspective of Elizabeth Kloepfer, Bundy’s girlfriend who denied accusations against him for…

It was with the announcement earlier this year about the upcoming Halloween reboot that everyone was shocked. David Gordon Lee and Danny McBride’s involvement completely caught franchise fans by surprise, and even after being reassured with John Carpenter’s involvement, everyone was stuck figuring out how the film could possibly work. McBride recently took to the Empire Film Podcast and elaborated how he and Gordon planned to respect the original films. “Look at where the Halloween franchise has gone. There’s a lot of room for improvement. David and I are coming from it as, we are horror fans, and we are…

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is never afraid of changing a character’s backstory or editing the general narrative of things from the original comics. But according to Kevin Feige, it looks like they’re taking into account a certain connection from the comics between The Collector and The Grandmaster. If you pay attention, you may have noticed that the two characters each have a distinctly similar sense of style – white hair, markings on their chin, and an odd fashion sense to say the least. It turns out that it’s no coincidence – the two are both claimed to be Elders as…
