Netflix has found a winning formula for creating binge-worthy content, especially in the horror genre. Just in 2018 alone, both The Haunting of Hill House and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina were massive successes for the streaming platform, ranking among their most popular programing yet despite coming out within a few weeks of each other. Kevin Smith has remained in the public eye for his great podcast work, but his work in film has not been as impactful as of late. Smith’s recent efforts Tusk and Yoga Hosers were inspired in their concept, but the execution left something to be desired. Horror films oddly enough are often drawn from real-life experiences that had bizarre supernatural results. The latest byproduct of that is a upcoming horror release based upon the “Russian Sleep Experiment”, which took place in the 1940s with a group of people staying up for 30 days consecutively. Will Ferrell has been one of the most successful comedic actors in Hollywood, with his lengthy tenure as a comedic staple in films like Anchorman and Step Brothers. Recently though, Ferrell has struggled to re-kindle his early career success, with both Daddy’s Home 2 and The House being poorly received by critics last year. The Transformers brand is an iconic staple, which has made the franchise’s recent slew of bloated blockbusters particular disappointing.
