The Conjuring series has accomplished the improbable, creating a horror franchise that is both consistently profitable and well-received. While James Wann spearheaded the original films, Warner Brothers has since been looking for new routes to take the franchise with spinoffs like Annabelle: Creation trying to enrich the Conjuring mythos. That process continues with The Nun, which shockingly enough is the worst reviewed entry yet in the series. Set as a prologue for The Conjuring 2, the film follows a priest (Demian Bichir), who with the help of a young nun-in-training (Taissa Farmiga) go to Romania to confront a demonic force that takes the image of a nun. Personally,…

After a seventeen year run, the Hobbs and Shaw spin-off looks to bring a completely new dynamic to the Fast and Furious franchise. With Deadpool 2 director David Leitch behind the camera, as well as dynamic action stars Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson staring on screen, many have been anticipating how this film can add to the brand. While we still have nearly a year to wait till we get to see the final product, star Dwayne Johnson was excited to share a first look into the film as well as hype up the film’s prospects: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bni6swbFU80/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet While this photo may not be the exciting preview…
Dredd is one of the most underrated genre films of the millennium, as it has built a fairly significant cult audience since its short-lived theatrical run. Thanks to some stylistic violence and a fantastic starring turn from Karl Urban as Judge Dredd, Dredd thrived as a mean and lean actioner that left fans begging for more. While its been six years since that film, it appears that a possible return for Urban as Judge Dredd isn’t out of the realm of possibility. During a Star Trek convention, Urban discussed his potential return with the Judge Dredd: Mega-City One TV show: “I’m not attached to it, although…
Rising from the ashes of a middlingly-revived third film (though its a fan favorite), The Fast and Furious franchise has found new life at the box office over the last decade. After Fate of the Furious carved out over a billion dollars at the box office, the question was when, not if, Fast and Furious 9 would be coming. Well it appears that Fast and Furious 9 will finally be happening, with Omega Underground reporting that the film is set to begin production April 20th, 2019, with filming to begin in Atlanta, Georgia. Its ironic that a franchise that celebrates family has become one of the most dysfunctional…
While documentaries are far from the most popular of films, Michael Moore has carved out a surprisingly fruitful career in the genre. Often molding together shocking humor with current day takes on politics, Moore has been one of the few documentarians to truly nail the balance between informing and entertaining his audience. With politics getting more and more hectic by the day, its no surprise that Moore is back with another political statement. Check out the trailer for his latest film Fahrenheit 11/9 below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRQv9xMQ3E0&frags=pl%2Cwn Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 11/9” is a provocative and comedic look at the times in which we…
Luke Cage has been one of Marvel’s most successful TV series, and they have star Mike Colter to thank for it. With the first two seasons of the show, Colter delivered a strong lead performance as Cage, making the character stand out during its cinematic debut. Colter may be known for his strong acting ability, but it appears that many may take issue with his personality. In response to the Ariana Grande groping incident, Colter posted and since deleted a tweet joking about the incident. .@LukeCage star Mike Colter tweets(and then deletes) reaction to pastor groping Ariana Grande. pic.twitter.com/rRrQS4qyGv — Pop…
It’s no secret that video game adaptations have consistently failed in Hollywood. While this year featured two surprisingly decent video game films in Rampage and Tomb Raider, there has yet to be a legitimately great adaptation for either film or television. Well, Netflix is trying to change that with their TV adaptation of The Witcher – and they’ve started by adding a pretty big star in Henry Cavill. According to Deadline, Netflix is making major moves with this adaptation, casting Superman star Cavill as the lead character Geralt of Rivia. Series producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich shared her excitement about the news: “I didn’t have writers or scripts yet…
Following the massive success of TV series Stranger Things, Kin is the latest science fiction adventure film. While the genre has proven to bring a great balance of excitement, charm, and heart, Kin features none of that, being one of the year’s biggest missed opportunities so far. Based on the short film Bag Man (directors Johnathan and Josh Baker, who also directed Kin), the film follows Elijah, an outcast who discovers a mysterious weapon one day. When he and his brother get caught up in a dangerous chase against gangs and alien soldiers, Elijah is forced to save the day while learning about his past. On concept, Kin has a…
The Venom movie may only be less than a month away, but there is still a lot unknown about the latest superhero (or should I say anti-hero) project. No one knows what rating the film will actually earn and middling advertisements have left fans wondering if it will even be any good. While the latter question has yet to be answered, fans did receive some hint of what Venom will actually be rated. In an interview with the LA Times, director Ruben Fleischer opened up the film’s violence, sharing it will be “pushed to the hilt.” Fleischer also had this to share about…
James Gunn’s firing from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was perhaps the most controversial that Disney has made in running the MCU. Gunn was easily the most talented and distinct craftsman on the MCU roster of directors, with his signature comedic style and visceral eye creating two of fans favorite Marvel movies. With Gunn gone, Guardians Vol. 3 is in a state of limbo . With Disney trying to line-up a new director and decide whether or not a third volume will actually happen, the cast has been put into an awkward situation and apparently, it could effect Avengers 4. Star Dave Bautista recently…
