Growing up a film and television fan in the wonderful state of Massachusetts, he grew a strong attachment to personal dramas. Teaming up his fandom for the world of entertainment along with his love of writing was just an all too natural fit for Matt. He can be often found at the local cineplex, eating at the local restaurants or playing basketball at any basketball court across Mass.

Predator 2 is a byproduct of a different time, where sequels tended to take risks rather than rehash the original. With both Predator star Arnold Schwarzenegger and director John McTiernan refusing to be involved, this sequel had no choice to be a radically different film then the original, and it doesn’t shy from being a completely different film from its counterpart. Set in the distant future of 1997 (holds laughter), Predator 2 trades its jungle setting for the streets of Los Angeles, where the world is facing a fierce heat wave and an even fiercer crime spree. For Lieutenant Mike (Danny Glover), a life focusing…

Acting as the little brother of the Resident Evil franchise, the Underworld films were supernatural action/horror hybrids that pit vampires against werewolves against one another. The results, aside from a fairly decent prequel entry, ranged from uninspired to flat out terrible. That being said, it’s been a consistently profitable brand, with each film making at least 80 million worldwide. With the last entry Underworld: Blood Wars coming out nearly two ago, fans are left wondering when exactly they would get to see the franchise again. Well according to an interview with Variety, the franchise’s star Kate Beckinsale will be out of the picture, as she states:…

A horror/sci-fi/comedy featuring the likes of Deadpool 2’s Zazie Beetz and Chance the Rapper, Slice is a genre movie that has a lot of ideas on display. While its mix of genres leads to some goofy fun moments, it also creates a quagmire of a film that never quite finds its footing. Set in a world where werewolves, witches, and ghosts are feared by everyday citizens, Slice follows the mysterious murders of a set of pizza delivery workers, whose store may just be the entry gate into Hell. It’s up to some unlikely heroes to save the day. Slice is at its best when its embracing its…

It’s no secret that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is one of the most controversial superhero films of recent memory. Between the “Martha scene” and the uniquely bleak directions Zack Snyder took its central heroes, there are several points of contention that comic book fans have with the film. Perhaps the greatest issue however was the violence that Batman committed, as he is a hero who is famous for never killing anyone. Well it appears that Batman may have broken that rule in an even more extreme way. According to Second-Unit director and stunt coordinator Damon Carr, the so-called “Martha Rescue”…

It’s been a wild 24 hours for both Henry Cavill and Warner Brothers, as rumors have been circulating whether Cavill will or won’t be apart of Superman’s future. This decision is a significant one, as it will dictate the future of Ben Affleck’s involvement in the DC brand, as well as the general future of the franchise. Well it appears we may finally be getting some answers… sort of. WB has come out to try and add some clarity with their statement on Cavill’s future with the franchise: “While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve…

While modern Superman films have had a very mixed portrayal of Superman, star Henry Cavill consistently gave his all to the character. Cavill’s naturalistic charisma made Superman, despite his different tonal portrayals, really shine on screen. One could argue Justice League had one of the best uses of Superman, with Cavill donning the classic Christopher Reeve’s persona to perfection. Well, it appears that Henry Cavill’s time as the man of steel is coming to close. *Update* A new tweet from Cavill’s manager says that the actor is not leaving Superman – a statement from WB has been released: “While no decisions have…

While reviews currently may be mixed (currently hovering around 48% on Rotten Tomatoes), The Predator is one of my most anticipated films of the fall movie season. The Nice Guy’s writer/director Shane Black is one of the most distinct and humorous voices in Hollywood, and considering his involvement in the original Predator, he clearly knows what it takes to make a film in this franchise work. He understands what Arnold Schwarzenegger means to fans of the film. It appears that Black may not have been the only original cast member to return to this reboot – at least in initial plans. While it was eventually turned down…

The Conjuring series has accomplished the improbable, creating a horror franchise that is both consistently profitable and well-received. While James Wann spearheaded the original films, Warner Brothers has since been looking for new routes to take the franchise with spinoffs like Annabelle: Creation trying to enrich the Conjuring mythos. That process continues with The Nun, which shockingly enough is the worst reviewed entry yet in the series. Set as a prologue for The Conjuring 2, the film follows a priest (Demian Bichir), who with the help of a young nun-in-training (Taissa Farmiga) go to Romania to confront a demonic force that takes the image of a nun. Personally,…

After a seventeen year run, the Hobbs and Shaw spin-off looks to bring a completely new dynamic to the Fast and Furious franchise. With Deadpool 2 director David Leitch behind the camera, as well as dynamic action stars Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson staring on screen, many have been anticipating how this film can add to the brand. While we still have nearly a year to wait till we get to see the final product, star Dwayne Johnson was excited to share a first look into the film as well as hype up the film’s prospects: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bni6swbFU80/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet While this photo may not be the exciting preview…

Dredd is one of the most underrated genre films of the millennium, as it has built a fairly significant cult audience since its short-lived theatrical run. Thanks to some stylistic violence and a fantastic starring turn from Karl Urban as Judge Dredd, Dredd thrived as a mean and lean actioner that left fans begging for more. While its been six years since that film, it appears that a possible return for Urban as Judge Dredd isn’t out of the realm of possibility. During a Star Trek convention, Urban discussed his potential return with the Judge Dredd: Mega-City One TV show: “I’m not attached to it, although…
