In Superman’s long and detailed history, there has been just one substance that has always been his weakness: kryptonite. A mineral from his home planet of Krypton, proximity to it drains his incredible strength. So in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it made perfect sense that when Batman discovered this, he decided to acquire the mineral and use it against his perceived enemy. He already knew that Supes basically had no other chinks in his armor. It was his only chance to fight the alien on even ground. Given the vast resources at Bruce Wayne’s disposal, the weapon in…

Many fans of both comics and comedy were disappointed by the recent news that a planned animated Deadpool series has been cancelled. It made little sense to discard such a potentially lucrative show. Thanks largely to Ryan Reynolds’ spot-on big screen portrayal, the character is practically a pop culture icon. And there are a lot of fans who actually prefer animated series to live action films, since they tend to stick closer to the source material. Throw in the fact that it was set to be helmed by popular comedy scribe Donald Glover and his brother Stephen, and it seemed…

Throughout the intense scrutiny during the production of Avengers: Infinity War, and the marketing leading up to its release, many Marvel fans have been asking the same question: where the hell is Hawkeye? In the MCU, he’s a founding member of the Avengers. The character has featured in four films so far. Introduced in a cameo in Thor, he was later brainwashed by Loki in Avengers. He had a very prominent role in Age of Ultron. Civil War saw him with less screen time, but stealing every scene he appeared in. So why in the world is his presence in…

By now, I’m sure you’ve seen the Avengers: Infinity War trailer at least half a dozen times, like I have.  And while there’s all kinds of awesome to be found from a plethora of characters, one is conspicuous in his absence. Where the hell is Hawkeye? Clint Barton, the world’s greatest archer and marksman, has been an Avenger from the very start. He first hit the screen in Thor, with a cameo appearance standing guard over the thunder god. He went on to play a pivotal role Avengers, and a larger one in Age of Ultron. Sadly, Captain America: Civil…

Details about the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 are being tightly guarded. However, casting calls are giving a small glimpse into possible plot details. First, they’re looking for a “femme fatale” character. She is described as a “Bond girl type of agent,” reportedly of European descent. This leads us to believe she will likely be Jessica Drew, who later becomes Spider-Woman. Drew is an interesting character in Spidey lore. Originally a HYDRA agent, she is afflicted with uranium poisoning, and her life is saved with the blood of an irradiated spider. (Only in comic land, right?) She develops similar powers to…

The final trailer for Avengers: Infinity War dropped today. And holy biscuits, it’s incredible. It’s hard to believe that so much awesome can be packed into a single film, but it looks like that’s exactly what Marvel has managed to do. Without further delay, let’s break down the five most fangasm-inducing shots. 5. Thanos Dropping the Gems Into the Infinity Gauntlet We all knew it was coming, I suppose. After all, he wouldn’t be much of a threat without the complete set of Infinity Stones. But actually *seeing* them placed into the Gauntlet, one by one, lighting up with their…

For months now, rumors have been swirling that Ben Affleck is on the verge of vacating the role of Batman in the DCEU. Both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League were given a lukewarm reception by critics and audiences, and it seems that the tepid response has quelled his interest in the role going forward. Batman, needless to say, is the lynchpin of the entire DCEU. It’s not like they can just write him out. So if Affleck decides to bow out, what will DC film executives do to fill his shoes? Several actors have been mentioned,…

In an unexpected crossover, one of the Guardians of the Galaxy apparently shows up in a deleted scene from Thor: Ragnarok. Michael Rooker’s character, Yondu Udonta, has been spotted in a screen grab from the digital copy of the film. Yondu, you’ll recall, is the smart-mouthed, southern accented Ravager captain who raised Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord. While he seemed like a grade-A asshole in the first film, a softer side of the career criminal was seen in the second installment. We learned that the real reason he kept Peter from his father was that he was the Celestial known as…
